About this project

Leaders within the Family Violence, Sexual Assault and Primary Prevention of Gender-Based Violence sectors play a key role in shaping effective services to respond to community needs. These leaders and their organisations operate within a challenging environment, with high demand and rapidly changing policy and system contexts.

Building capacity for adaptive leadership

The Lead and Adapt Leadership Program has been developed by Safe and Equal, the peak body for specialist family violence services in Victoria, in partnership with Leadership Victoria and Sexual Assault Services Victoria.

This professional development program is designed for executive and senior leaders in the specialist family violence and sexual assault sectors. Using an adaptive leadership framework, it enables leaders to connect with their purpose; explore strengths, demands and opportunities; strengthen support networks, and build relationships with other leaders. Through building the capabilities of individual participants, the program is expected to have flow-on benefits including stronger organisations, improved workforce retention, and increased capacity to achieve system changes to support positive community impacts.

Evaluation

Lirata has partnered with Safe and Equal to undertake an external evaluation of the Lead and Adapt pilot. The evaluation will be conducted in alignment with the program's three delivery cycles during 2023-24. The evaluation focuses on a thorough assessment of the quality of the program, its relevance to the needs of the sector, and the outcomes and impacts achieved.
