About this project

Berry Street’s Northern Specialist Family Violence Service (NSFVS) operates across Melbourne’s northern suburbs and provides early intervention, crisis, case management and recovery services for victim-survivors of family violence.

Understanding 'what works' in responding to family violence

NSFVS has been working over a period of years to strengthen internal Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) processes. Lirata has partnered with Berry Street over this time to assist NSFVS to review and evaluate its services, and build its evaluation capacity.

A key focus of this work is to develop a robust outcome measurement approach for NSFVS, including:

  1. An outcome measurement framework for NSFVS which identifies key intended client outcomes and professional capacity building outcomes across different service streams, modalities and client groups. The framework will also identify associated indicators, and the data sources and methods through which outcomes data will be collected.

  2. A set of data collection tools, aligned with the framework, tailored to NSFVS' context to support effective collection of outcomes information.

Data analysis and reporting tools will also be developed in future. These elements will support Berry Street to gather evidence of ‘what works’ in responding to people experiencing family violence, to improve services and projects, and to position strategically for future opportunities.
